| About the upcoming Book Marketing Huddle
We will have a free online huddle in a few weeks -- Tuesday, August 24, 4pm PT/7pm ET -- with a focus on book marketing for fiction writers.
This is an offering to everybody here on this list and also to any friends you would like to invite. (Just send them the link!)
Sign up here:
Everybody who wants to come needs to sign up here, so I can send out the details and reminders to only those who want to come.
I'll be sending the recording to all who sign up, even if you can't make it live. |
| Why did I create this huddle?
I support fiction authors who are developing and implementing their book marketing.
I created this gathering as a way for genre fiction writers to discuss and get support around the challenges you may encounter.
Who this huddle is for?
You write genre fiction and are publishing soon or already have books published. You'd like to get some coaching around a specific issue, or you'd like to be together thinking about your book marketing.
This gathering is tailored for writers who are in action or ready to get an action around marketing their novels.
This huddle is also for anyone who has taken or is currently taking our book marketing courses in the school, to bring a specific question, problem, or concern to get some live support.
This huddle is also for you if you attended Daniel David Wallace's Find Your Reader summit and attended my talk on the Author Branding Statement (live or in replay). Bring your author branding statement to the group, so you can get feedback and test it with your peers.
Why am I focusing on book marketing?
One of the biggest challenges I see novelists have is they are afraid of all things marketing.
We are taught in our culture that art and business do not go together.
However I see all aspects of business -- including marketing -- as entirely creative.
As a creative act, marketing requires the same courage as writing a good story does...
Dare I write this emotionally strong moment?
-- the same curiosity...
How do I craft an excellent story opening?
-- the same persistence...
We novelists show up day after day.
Learning how to get the word out to our potential readers about our books is actually a very creative exercise.
So, now that I've made my case, I invite you again to come practice and be with a community in a supportive environment where it’s okay to play and make mistakes.
This will probably be the last huddle like this this year as I have a novel to bring out and a class to prepare for.

Do you have a specific question you'd like me to address during the Huddle? You can submit it here.
See you soon!

| KNOW THYSELF -- KNOW YOUR EMOTIONS
Fiction is all about generating emotion in our readers.
To be able to successfully do that, we need to know ourselves first.
To that end, check out this recommended resource from a friend and colleague on emotional intelligence -- 5-minute videos on emotions and emotional intelligence:
