| Editing Your Novel: Say No to Get to Yes š

| | I feel like a juggler with way too many balls in the air. I love them all and want to catch them all.
But the reality is I can only catch one or two at a time.
So what do I say No to, so I can actually get to work editing my novel?
I really need to deepen into that editing zone where I make all the final decisions about the story and where Iām swimming through the silky turbulent waters of emotions that will give my novel its lifeblood, itās thump-thump-thump heart beat.
To get there I need to put all the other thingsāimportant work tasksāin their place.
And I need to say NO to everything else.
I envision putting important tasks and commitments on the calendar, putting due-by dates on them.
Everything else: No for at least the next 4 weeks:
ā No to networking Zoom coffee dates
ā No to media interviews
ā No to taking one more class (I love learning!)
ā No to anything that isnāt essential to running my business and supporting my students and clients
All this so I can say YES to the things that support my Creative Editor self. She needs:
ā plenty of sleep
ā daily walks
ā good nutrition
ā a feeling of spaciousness, so she has the time to get these edits done, as long as she sits down and does the work
ā support from her posse, which comes from asking for help and support when needed
ā to talk it out, when sheās stuck
She is me.
What does your Creative Editor self need? Talk to them and find out.
When we talk to ourself in the third person, we actually trigger wisdom in a new way.
Try and let me know what you discover.
Postponed: Due to my new-and-improved editing commitment, Iāve postponed the Editing Webinar. Iāll let you know when I have a definite date on it. Sign up here to be notified when we announce the date. Then tell us what your #1 challenge in editing your novel is in a survey here.
