Does your story world touch on the Sacred, Religion or Mysticism?
Would you like it to at least include these things?
I have thoughts!
You focus on your story plot, your characters, creating tension, and crafting great twists and turns.
Then there's world building, which all about making your world feel real, multi-dimensional, complex -- like our own world.
And that includes the sacred, religion, or mysticism. Or all three.
So if you'd like some help connecting to these topic, here are some prompts to get your started.
Use these questions to interview your point of view characters -- main characters and secondary characters -- and elicit the sacred, religion, or mysticism from them.
Ask maybe one question per day or all in one sitting. There's no right way to do this. Have a conversation with your character. It may meander or be straightforward, depends on who they are.
Write down the conversation and explore your characters and how the sacred may impact your story.
☕️
Hi {character}, tell me...
Do you pray? And if so, what are the rituals for that? What do you say or do?
What do you believe in?
Do you have faith in something?
What do you believe is the origin of life, of your life, of your traditions, of the origins of your people?
What do you say in praise? Or in anger?
How do you explain the unexplainable?
{Thank you!}

Let me know if these are helpful to bring out your characters' views of sacred, religion, or mysticism.
I'd love to hear.
