Even though I love writing, editing is often harder.
Planning and writing the novel's first draft feels like flying free, but editing feels like a slog across the muddy fields to climb to mountain summit that always appears far away at the horizon.
But I know I can get there, step-by-step. Somehow I always figure it out. Editing my 16th novel, so I've developed a way through.
There is a process, but it's not always easy to put into words.
Recently, a friend and fellow writing teacher encouraged me to share about intuitive approach. So I'm starting to do that and that's what next week's podcast episode is about.
Sneak peek here. (Instagram link)
In the episode, I share a live edit of my own work on video.
My intuitive sense is my body sense. I still work with discernment and experience, and I pay attention to the "right" amount of details in the story to move it forward.
I also pay attention to character, point of view, setting, tone.
If you're curious, tune in to next week's episode on intuitive editing. It drops Monday 12am US Pacific time.
