Did you know that our stories can have long lives in unexpected ways?
Just now Ezra and I are watching The Lost Symbol TV series, which is based on a book by the same name by Dan Brown. Enjoying it.
The novel was published in 2009.
The movie came out in... oh, the movie was in development in 2012-2013, but didn't get made.
The TV series was released in 2021.
And we're watching it in 2024.
Fun note: Even before Ezra and I started dating and were friends because of the fiction critique group we were in, I lent him Dan Brown's first novel, Digital Fortress. (Yep, that was 1998.)
And now I'm making a short film that I want to be a teaser of TV pilot, inspired by my Henrietta The Dragon Slayer trilogy.
Check out the cast and crew after our 1st day of shooting on Sunday.
I published the first book in the Henrietta The Dragon Slayer series in 2011. That was 13 years ago.
I actually wished for Henrietta to be on the big screen way back in 2007. I remember the moment!
Bringing Henrietta The Dragon Slayer to the screen has been 17 years in the making.
All this to say that if you really love your story, stick with it.
Hold fast to your dreams.
Let them marinate on the back burner, quietly bubbling away, working on them when you can.
One day your big dreams for your wonderful stories and characters can come true.
You got this.
