Subject: can you imagine?

Last week we talked about how your brain is wired to go searching for every negative future thing that could possibly (or not!) happen - especially when times are uncertain.

And so you end up on a long train of negative "what if's".

To help combat this, I shared one of my favorite tools.  But I'm not stopping there, because I've got one more for you today. . .

Counteracting the Negative What If's

Whenever you feel as if you're getting sucked into the pity-party being hosted on the "what if" train, make a list of potential positives that could come as a result of current circumstances.

Be sure that these are real (don't go making stuff up that you don't believe in).  But don't allow yourself to believe that nothing good could come.

Because the truth is that something good can come from just about anything.  Here's the deal, Friend:
  • You're not on a runaway train destined to crash.
  • You have a choice in how you react (and so does everyone else).
  • Your choices make a difference.
Humans learn from difficulty.  It's how we grow.

Be sure that you take that into account when thinking about all the potential good that might come.

So, what if. . . all this time at home strengthens your relationship with your kids?  Or that you use this extra time to build a new skill? Or that people start to see one another as human beings (with more similarities than differences)?

There's no promise that the good stuff will happen (and no, you can't attract this stuff to you just by thinking it).  But you're incapable of seeing opportunity when in a negative mind space.

And to make the good stuff happen, you've got to first believe in the possibility.

Mindset Mastery Q&A Call

I've been hosting weekly Mindset Mastery morning coffee chats for the past 6 weeks.

And because it's one thing to learn about these tools and yet another to actually implement them, I'm hosting a Q&A session this Wednesday at 8:30 AM CST.

This is open to anyone who wants help around mastering their mindset (regardless of whether you've been able to make past sessions).

If you're not sure how to re-frame something, want tips on how to be more grateful or need help with letting go of a negative thought, be there.

Just be sure to register if you haven't already done that in past weeks (or if you've lost the information for how to join):

XO,

Heather
P.S. Couldn't attend the Mindset Mastery Sessions but would have loved to?  Want access to all six so that you can use them whenever you need them most?  Check out the Master Your Mindset Bundle.
