Subject: What does success mean to you?

With a 4.7 GPA, scoring in the 97th percentile on the ACT, he is applying to (and can expect to get into many of) the “best” colleges.

But is he more successful than the young man with a 3.4 GPA with a 28 on the ACT, and who also works 25 hours per week because he has to help his single mom get dinner on the table for his 4 younger siblings?

[No, these are not real people. But as the mom of a High School Senior who recently went through the craziness of applying to college, the analogy was fresh in my mind].

Circumstances, luck and past experiences (and knowledge gained from those experiences) play a part in your success.

Which aren’t within your full control.

And grades, scores and achievements don’t paint an accurate picture. There are other things to measure.

How does this translate to you, Friend?

As you look back at the past year and look forward to the new one (and set your 2024 goals)...

Don’t get caught up in vanity metrics or measure success purely based on the numbers.

You - and your success - are so much more than mere numbers.

Heather
