Subject: Time to rethink "better"

Coughing uncontrollably, wheezing through every breath, I barely held it together as I hosted the final call to get the deal closed.

I wish I could tell you this was a one-time thing because I was hoping to soon be put up for partnership.

But alas, I can’t.

This wasn’t the first time I’d put myself last for a client or deal. Nor would it be my last (despite making partner a few months later).

I excused my behavior because it usually only happened during my busy season. And because I was “better” at taking care of myself than other attorneys.

But - if I was being honest with myself - I had numerous busy seasons each year. And being “better” than most lawyers isn’t exactly a high bar to clear.

I finally started to prioritize my wellbeing after my breast cancer battle (better late than never, right?).

What about you, Friend?

Do you also push your own health and wellbeing down your to-do list, excusing yourself because you're "better" than many others are on this front?

Today’s Life & Law Podcast episode was made for you.
