Over the course of my working life, I've taken 3 leaves of absences. The first two related to pregnancies. The third was when I had cancer.
When out on maternity leave, I felt guilty about all the time I took off from work. And when I came back, I wanted to prove that I hadn't skipped a beat (which was overwhelming to say the least).
My cancer leave of absence was a bit different. It was much longer. I relied on others a lot more (because I had to!). And I didn't worry about what I was missing while out.
Sadly, when I returned to work I (yet again) felt like I needed to prove myself.
And I know that I'm not alone in this 'need to prove myself' mentality after being away, which is why. . .
Please welcome Lori Mihalich-Levin, the founder and CEO of Mindful Return and co-host of the Parents at Work Podcast for an honest, compelling discussion around how to plan for, take and return from a parental leave of absence without guilt or overwhelm.
Although Mindful Return is about returning to work after baby, Lori's 4-part Mindful Return framework will benefit anyone coming back from a leave of absence (no matter the reason).
And so I encourage you to listen even if you don't plan to take a parental leave in the future (because the truth is, you never know when you might have to take an unexpected leave of absence like I did).
