Subject: No one to blame (but me)

I was mad at myself, seriously overwhelmed and a little sick to my stomach.

It was 2009.  The financial market crash had hit my business HARD.  And I was scheduled to meet a potential new client (that I very much wanted + needed) in just 2 days.

Even though I'd known about this meeting for a month, I wasn't prepared for it because. . .
  • I was 'busy' doing work for colleagues (and couldn't find the time).
  • I needed space to think about my approach.
So, here I was beating myself up for putting something important off (yet again), which meant killing myself to catch up.

[And allowing that annoying voice inside my head to remind me of all the times I'd procrastinated in the past, promised I wouldn't do it again and yet did].

Has this ever happened to you, Friend?

If you're like most high-achievers, then it's probably a yes.

[Fun fact: it's extremely common among lawyers.  But we like to pretend that it's because we work better under pressure (and so do it on purpose)].

The problem is that we tend to think of procrastination as it's own thing (hint: it's not).  Procrastination is a symptom of other things.

What that means is that you can STOP procrastinating by getting behind what's causing you to procrastinate in the first place.

And that's what I get into in this week's Life & Law Podcast. Go here to find out:
  • 5 secret causes of procrastination,
  • How to effectively overcome what's causing you to procrastinate, and
  • What to do when you're just not that motivated to do something.
This episode is full of practical advice for how to overcome procrastination so that you can get more done in less time (and stop feeling as if you're always drinking from a fire hose).

XO,

Heather
