Last week I told you about how I once tried to develop my
legal practice in an area I didn’t love.
It seemed the smart thing to do at the time (although, looking back, I
realize it was truly DUMB).
Have you ever known deep-down that a goal wasn’t right for you, but kept at it anyway? Surely, I'm not the only person to have done that (at least, I hope not).
If only I had followed the advice I’m giving today, I would
have stopped and redirected myself at the outset. And I wouldn’t have wasted so much of my time
or energy on something that didn’t light me up (and that made me question
myself and my abilities).
- Why and how to set a
purpose-based goal
- The questions to ask yourself to ensure that your goal
won’t conflict with your core values (and why that matters)
- Why setting a goal
that’s measurable (the “M” in the SMART goal-setting process) isn’t enough - and
how to go beyond that
Goal-setting is an art. If you set the right goals for you, then
you’re more likely to succeed AND have fun while striving to achieve them. So take your time and don't rush yourself. Besides, we'll get into the "how" next week.
Now is where I ask you for a favor. If you like the article, please share it. You can share it using the social sharing
buttons at the top of the article itself or by forwarding this email to someone you know would benefit from it.
Before I go, I've got some news to share. I’m doing my first Facebook
Live next week! In our first live event, we'll dive deeper into how to set the right goals for you (without making common mistakes). Set your calendars for 6:00 pm Central Standard Time on Tuesday, January 23rd (and be sure to tune in).
The live event is perfect for you if you’re interested in going deeper into the materials and you'd like to ask questions of me (I'll be answering them at the end of the live event).
All my best,
Heather
P.S. Please note that, if you aren't available during my Facebook Live next week, you can still view it and ask questions after it's over. You'll be able to find the video on my Facebook Page and ask questions in the comments section (I will get back to you). So be sure to connect with and follow me there!
P.P.S. I will be doing Facebook lives regularly. Initially, I plan to do them on a bi-weekly basis (or monthly - depending on the month). The purpose is to go deeper into the materials and topics I cover without taking up too much of your
valuable time. I don't anticipate that my teachings will last for more than 10-15
minutes (I want them to be helpful, but short and sweet).
