Now, on to the good stuff...

It looks like you haven't yet seen this week's email.  It's an important one (at least, in my opinion), so I'm re-sharing it with you. . .

****
It's December, which means that a new year (actually, a new DECADE) is just around the corner.

For most people that means it's time to start thinking about your goals for next year.

Friend, what are you doing to help ensure that you'll achieve your big goals next year?

Perhaps (like me) you're reviewing the past year as part of your goal-setting process. Maybe you've already set your 2020 goals. Or maybe you haven't begun to think about goal-setting just yet.

What I want you to know is that none of that matters if you're not paying attention to your mindset. Because what you believe (and how you think) matters.

It matters more than your goals. And it matters more than your goal-achievement process.

Why Mindset Is Your #1 Success Indicator

Let me be clear about something: I'm not saying that all you have to do is believe.

What I am saying is that your mentality is what determines:
  • The goals you set,
  • How hard you work to achieve your goals,
  • Whether you keep going or give up when things get hard, and
  • How you perceive your progress along the way to achievement.
Let's put this into real terms. Think about a goal you'd like to set for the year ahead (just pick something that sounds good in the moment).

How far along the road to achievement do you need to be to consider yourself close? 85% (maybe 90%) along the way?

Most people don't consider themselves close until they can see the finish line. And that translates into thinking about your first steps as almost meaningless.

But that's just wrong!

Getting started represents exponential growth. And developing good habits that are necessary for goal achievement are typically part of your first steps.

Unfortunately, most people convince themselves that those first steps aren't all that important. And so they never get started (or they do and quickly give up).

But once you get started, you can repeat the process. And before you know it you're almost there.

Getting started is 100% dependent on your mentality. And so is continuing when adversity strikes.

If you want to stop thinking about all the things you'd like to do someday and instead actually ACHIEVE them, start paying attention to your mentality.

Make no mistake: this is an act of mental self-care.

By working to cultivate the right mentality, you're taking care of your own well-being while also making it more likely that you'll achieve your big dreams.

I can't promise that you'll achieve every goal you set. But I can tell you that you'll get much farther with the right mentality than you will without it. And you'll be happier too.

So, Friend, what one step are you willing to take NOW to set yourself up for success next year (and every year after that, too)?

When it comes to prioritizing self-care and your mental well-being, your first step is to sign up for Uncage Your Life: a self-care reset session to help you prioritize your well-being.
