I'm not as smart as they think (what happens when they figure it out)? They made a mistake in promoting me (I'm not ready). Who am I to think people should listen to what I have to say?
Those thoughts were mine:
- A few months after I started practicing law.
- Sitting in my first partner meeting after being promoted to partner.
- Wrestling with whether to start a new podcast (last December).
Impostor syndrome, anyone?
Maybe you're surprised to find out that I have these thoughts too. Especially since I built a thriving law practice and started my podcast.
Impostor syndrome is common among high-achievers. And contrary to popular belief, it doesn't just impact women - men suffer from it too.
The good news is that you can do something about it, Friend.
If only I'd known what to do about it earlier, I wouldn't have suffered in silence for so long (I learned how to combat these thoughts several years after I was promoted to partner).
So when I noticed what was going on last year, I tackled it head-on. Which enabled me to not just launch my podcast but also to not obsess over what people would think.
It's time to free yourself from worry and self-doubt so that you can instead feel 100% confident in *you*.
XO,
Heather
