Now, on to the good stuff...

Happy New Year, Friend!  I hope that you had a wonderful holiday season and are ready to go big this year.  Because it's time to plan for the new year by setting your 2019 goals.

But before you do that, make sure that you're setting yourself up for success from the get-go.  Most people don't regularly achieve their goals because they:
  • make common goal-setting mistakes that make goal-achievement more difficult than it already is;
  • set the wrong goals, making it more likely that they'll give up part-way through; and
  • don't have a system to help them achieve their goals.
But that's not going to be you this year.  Today, I've got some important tips for you + several articles from last year's Goal-Setting Series that will help you set the right goals, achieve them, and be happy with where you end up.

Let's get started...

Tip #1: Go Big

You want a life that lights you up, yet don't go big enough for that because you're already so tired.  How can you go bigger when life's so exhausting?

Here's the truth: you feel drained by your life because you're playing it "safe" by going through the motions according to the rules + values of everyone OTHER THAN YOU.

This year, I want you to go big and figure out what will light YOU up. Put yourself back into your own life's equation.  Even though this will challenge you, it'll have you motivated and excited to get up each morning (instead of feeling drained by your life).

Tip #2: Get Comfortable With Being Uncomfortable

Back when I practiced law, the 2009 economic crash hit right after I made partner.  The book of business I made partner with was gone in an instant.  I quickly had to revamp my entire practice and set new, big goals.  To say that this was difficult is an understatement.

That year I learned that you can get comfortable with being uncomfortable.  Doing this helped me to learn and grow in much bigger ways.  And it set me up for MAJOR success in my legal practice (I soon had one of the largest books of business in my office).

I know you have a bigger vision for your life.  You even have a bigger purpose (that might just scare you).  Go for it.  Because if you want...
  • to make an impact
  • to enjoy true freedom
  • to achieve career/business success while also enjoying your life
then you must be 100% committed to getting uncomfortable.

Tip #3: Keep Your Promises (to Yourself)

If you want to be successful this year, then you must keep your promises.  And I'm not just talking about your promises to others.  I'm especially talking about keeping your promises to yourself.

For some reason, most of us are big on keeping our promises to others yet not so much to ourselves.  And so we end up pushing our own values, desires, and self-care to the bottom of a long list.

There's no better way to create trust and faith in yourself than by keeping the promises you've made to yourself.  Doing this will boost your self-confidence and create more success.  And it's what will keep you going when the discomfort level gets high.
