The number of new copywriters entering the market has exploded over the last year.
When I first started most people had no idea what a copywriter was.
Now everyone and their nan wants to be one.
While this has created market saturation it's not the reason most are failing.
You see, most copywriters get started because of one of these promises:
Sound familiar?
Here's the thing...
While all of this is attainable it doesn't happen as quickly as you might think.
Of course every now and then someone will break the status quo.
But in reality 80% of copywriters earn between $48,397 and $66,43.
And most will stay around this salary for decades.
This is where the problem starts...
Most new copywriters have unrealistic goals.
They think they can read Breakthrough Advertising, sign 3 $5k clients and live life on easy mode.
The reality couldn't be more different.
The first few months of copywriting are a huge grind.
Clients are hard to get.
The learning curve is complex.
Most people are already working with copywriters.
Once new copywriters see this they quit.
It turns out those promises were made to sell a course and weren't reality.
But this is when real copywriters (or people who want to become one) can stand out.
If you avoid the information overload...
Focus on building your skills (not money)...
And see failures as opportunities to learn...
You can achieve success a copywriter.
Instead of taking advice from everyone listen to 3 mentors.
Instead of focusing on money focus on building your skills.
Instead of looking for the perfect client take every opportunity you get.
Over time this will compound and you'll achieve what you set out to.
You just need to have patience.
Have a great week,
Copy "avoid the copywriting trap Maverick
