If you run a business or you're into self development chances are you've gone down the productivity loophole.
You know, that phase where you need to do 10 things before you actually start your day?
I did the same.
I spent years trying to create the "optimal" routine so I could stay focused and get the most out of each work session.
The result?
I didn't get any closer to my goals.
I was stuck...
And I couldn't work out why.
I was going to the gym, getting out for walks and writing daily.
But no matter how much I tried I couldn't get any closer to my goals.
Sound familiar?
This all changed when I discovered the concept of Inputs vs. Outputs.
Inputs are the actions you take daily.
Outputs are the results you want to achieve.
Most people go wrong by overly focusing on inputs.
They:
Journal
Go to the gym
Write for 30 minutes
Meditate twice a day
Sauna and cold plunge
All of which are good activities.
And yet, these activities stop you from achieving success in business.
Let's say you want to scale to $10k a month (your output).
No matter how much you journal, go to the gym or cold plunge (your inputs) you'll never reach that goal.
Why?
These inputs don't directly correlate with the output you want to achieve.
Instead, you need to work backward.
Your goal is to make $10k a month.
To achieve this you need to land 4 clients that pay $2.5k.
What inputs can you make to get this desired result?
If you take action on these for the next 4 months there's no way you don't achieve your goal.
However, you need to make these needle moving inputs a priority.
I do this by completing these tasks first thing in the morning.
I work backward on my goal and find which task will get me there the fastest.
I then block out 2 hours to get the task done.
After that I can go to the gym, get out for walks, and complete other good tasks that will benefit my overall lifestyle.
So if you're struggling to make progress chances are your inputs aren't an effective way to achieve your outputs.
If you want to see change, identify what it is you want to achieve and then work out what inputs you need to reach that goal.
You'll start to see results sooner than you think.
Have a great week,
