Subject: My new year has been a disaster...

Things don't always go to plan

Last Monday I was ready to take the New Year by storm.

I was planning a new BJJ schedule for comps this year, refining outreach strategies and optimizing my team to impress our current clients.

Monday was a huge success.

A prospect we had been trialing decided to work with us.

Tuesday we put a work schedule in place.

Wednesday we started a new outreach process.

And then Thursday arrived...

I woke up feeling a little more fatigued than usual with no idea why.

Instead of listening to my body I passed it off as being tired from the Christmas period.

I worked for around 10 hours and went to bed.

On Friday I woke up feeling like I'd been attacked in my sleep.

Fever. Headache. Fatigue. Terrible cough. All the symptoms of the flu.

I assigned my team their tasks and went back to bed.

And this is how I spent the last 3 days...

In bed.

I didn't do any work.

No progress was made on my outreach.

And I haven't even thought about physical training.

But here's the thing...

That's the life of running a business.

While you get the "luxury" of taking time off when you want, you don't make any progress when you're sick.

And when it's the start of a new year that really feels like a kick in the teeth.

While I'm now on the mend I'm far from 100%.

My energy is fluctuating, I feel weak and I can't write for more than 30 minutes at a time.

But progress is progress.

The reality is 90% of the time your business plan won't go as planned.

You'll plan for something to go left and it will go right.

You'll set the perfect work schedule and go over the first activity.

You'll set yourself a deadline online to realise that you're already out of time.

But this is where successful business owners set themselves apart.

I could sit there and complain about my start to the year.

I could use it as an excuse to quit.

Or...

I could accept that setbacks happen and get on with things anyway.

Use this mindset when things don't go your way.

Have a great week,
