Subject: Is comparison damaging your growth?

Friend,

Throughout social media everyone looks like they're winning.

Top influencers are living their best lives.

Industry experts are dominating the market.

And your competitors just can't lose.

The thing is social media is a highlight reel.

People, businesses, and now AI, only post the best outcomes they have.

This means you only see the wins.

Very few people are completely transparent.

The reality is both business and life are full of ups and downs.

And before any period of growth you're going to hit a lot of brick walls.

This is where social media can be a hindrance.

When you see everyone else winning you begin to question yourself.

You ask why everyone else has it and you can't seem to get it right.

This is something I did continuously.

It made me feel like I was a failure and at times made me want to quit.

But the reality was, I was comparing my chapter 2 to their chapter 10.

I also wasn't seeing many of the struggles these people were experiencing behind the scenes.

Having spoken to many of these people I've realised there's so much more going on that people don't talk about publically.

Everyone has their struggles even if their social media looks like everything's perfect.

So next time you catch yourself criticizing your progress take a step back and ask what you're comparing yourself to.

If it's social media highlights then you're fooling yourself.

You never want to compare yourself to someones highlight reel.

You want to compare yourself against the past version of you.

How do you compare to yourself last year? Last month? Last week?

Every day you should be striving to get 1% better in every area of life.

Send an extra five emails.

Study for an extra 10 minutes.

Add an extra 2kg to your weights.

When you do this every day your progress begins to compound.

Within a month you've sent an extra 150 emails.

Studied for five more hours.

And added 10kg to your weight.

Now imagine what happens when you do this for a year.

At the end of the day it's you vs you.

You automatically lose when you start comparing yourself to someone else's highlights.

But you can win if you start comparing you to you.

Have a great week,
