Over the past two months I've spent very little time on social media.
My business has grown at a rate that the ROI isn't worth it right now.
But every now and then I spend 10 minutes seeing the latest trends.
And writing advice is worse than ever.
It's at a point where writing gurus aren't even reading copywriting books anymore.
They're just copying other gurus who read one book.
The latest advice I saw?
"As a new copywriter you should be writing every moment you get."
Now, don't get me wrong, writing is like any other skill.
The more you do it, the better you get.
But, there's a point of diminishing returns.
You need to build a schedule around your writing that makes your sessions as productive as possible.
If all you do is wake up and jump on your laptop you have a few weeks until you burn out.
So what else do you need to be doing?
Firstly, going for walks.
Walks are a writer's superpower.
I recommend going on at least one a day, but two or three short walks can do wonders for your mind.
Secondly, you need to be doing some form of exercise.
This can be running, martial arts, yoga, cycling, etc.
Something where you can be in a flow state without thinking about business.
These sessions will give you a mental break and reduce stress.
Lastly, you need to be reading.
I read for at least 30 minutes a day.
And you don't have to read just copywriting books.
Read fiction, philosophy, biographies.
The more you can expose your mind to, the better your writing will become.
I know this advice might seem basic, but so many people are getting the basics wrong.
And if you get the basics wrong, it's a matter of time before your business comes crashing down.
If you've tried to build these habits and you're still struggling, let me know, and I'll give you some tips.
Have a great week,
