Friend,
Last week covid kicked my ass.
I'd seen so many people fight it off in a day or two & get back to work.
My experience was completely different.
I had a fever, brain fog and struggled to walk up the stairs.
I couldn't work all week.
I felt demotivated, lazy and stressed out.
I felt like I wasn't achieving my goals.
But yesterday I had a change in mindset.
I started focusing on the good things that came out of it.
I got to spend a lot of time with my dog (who's 17 now).
I got to call family members I hadn't spoken to in a while.
I got to spend more time laughing with my girlfriend on phone calls.
All little things.
All things that made me very happy.
I've found it's easy to forget there's more to life than work.
Especially if you're a self motivated person.
You always want to be chasing the next thing.
You tell yourself you'll be happy once you achieve it.
But sometimes you need to ask the question:
What's the point in working towards the goal if you don't enjoy the process?
It's important to take a step back and be grateful for what you have.
Sometimes it takes being sick to make you slow down and realise what that is.
Money is great. Success is great.
But are you really successful if you're rich and unhappy?
Don't let your work control your happiness.
There are always other things to be grateful for.
Have a great week.
