Integrate Java Apps with COBOL in IBM i Systems

Java and COBOL were born thirty years apart in two vastly different business realities. In spite of Java being a much newer and younger language, both continue to power business objectives with their distinct advantages.

We recently wrote an article for those who want to maintain the classic reliability of COBOL programs running on IBM i yet leverage Java's portability and object-oriented features. With a thoughtful integration plan, it is possible to reach the holy grail of contemporary interfaces and advanced functionalities alongside the reliability and strength of COBOL.

AI-Generated Code is Causing Outages and Security Issues in Businesses

AI is a handy partner in software development, speeding up dev efforts for the many developers who have adopted it. But as with any newer technology, there are bound to be challenges and gotchas aplenty.

An example: One of the more significant roadblocks, increasingly, is the lack of code operability out of the box. Failure to vet code quality can make you pay a steep price, resulting in downtime and security issues.
