A NOTE FROM OUR BOARD PRESIDENT |
| Dear Friends,
As we start another school year, we feel how different it is. Everything is changed and a lot feels like it has been turned upside down, especially for the young people we serve who are in the juvenile justice system and have grown up in foster care.
Our society and our systems were not designed very well to support young people who fall through the cracks or get into trouble. City Youth Now is dedicated to supporting the rise of every young person and recognizing everyone's potential in life.
Through these difficult times, we remain committed to innovation and perseverance in our programs and services. We are here to enhance the natural resiliency of youth.
I am delighted to welcome new board members Andrea Dew Steele and Anthony Williams to the City Youth Now Board. We are excited to move forward with our work and we are enormously grateful for your support.
Kind Regards,Charles Higgins President of the Board of Directors City Youth Now charleshiggins@cityyouthnow.org

| | Once again, we were able to team up with City Surf Project for a 3 week summer session. Two youth participated and showed great commitment over these few weeks. Being able to expose them to new and different opportunities during this difficult time has been amazing. Thank you to the City Surf Team for being a great partner and helping us remove barriers to ensure positive outcomes for our youth through surfing. |

| New Board Member: Andrea Dew Steele |
| We are happy to introduce one of our newest member to the City Youth Now team, our new Board Member, Andrea Dew Steele. Andrea is a social entrepreneur, political expert, and philanthropic leader. Her career started off in the political world, where she was struck by the incredible lack of women holding elected office at the local level in San Francisco. She co-founded Emerge California in 2002 to lead the fight to get more Democratic women elected to office. When not helping candidates and causes, Andrea lives for the outdoors and can be found hiking, biking, and playing tennis with her husband, three children, and her dog, Luna. |
| Virtual Life Skills Program |
| Despite the challenges of COVID-19, we were able to move forward with our first Life Skills Program! This was an extremely popular program, composed of 6 90 minute workshops covering various life skills from financial literacy, cooking and nutrition, to personal care. 15 youth participated and earned a stipend of up to $300.00 for their participation. We received extremely positive feedback from all of our participants and look forward to hosting a similar program soon. Thank you to all who participated, and thank you to STEPS for sponsoring this program! |

Personal Empowerment Program |
|
| During this time, we have been working diligently to help close gaps and ensure that resources are being provided to those who need it in our community. We work with so many wonderful partners, one of which who would like to share his experience.
"A big thank you to City Youth Now Program and Administrative Manager, Ronesha, and Program Coordinator Jocelynn, whom have been extremely supportive of the young men I work with during these challenging times. During the SIP, they have provided chrome books, gift cards, Clipper Cards, and so much more. With the support of City Youth Now, my young men have been able to obtain employment and enroll in college. My young men have expressed their gratitude on a number of occasions. Thank you City Youth Now for all of your support to both our youth and their families." -Booker G. Case Manager

| Back to School Supply Distribution |
| With the new school year starting, City Youth Now provided backpacks and school supplies to over 100 youth! Although many youth will be participating in distance learning, it is important that they are fully equipped at home, to be successful. Each youth received a backpack, filled with school supplies, a pack of reusable masks, planners, and a bag of hygiene products. Thank you to our partners at Ticket to Dream, Project Glimmer, and Buck Mason for making this possible. |

We are so glad to be support the youth in accessing to books and reading materials that they personally want to read! |
