FREE SCREENING: UNCHARITABLE

Thursday, November 9 — 6:00 PM

This FREE event is made possible with the generous support of the Community Foundation of Tompkins County, Association of Fundraising Professionals Finger Lakes Chapter, United Way of Tompkins County, Human Services Coalition of Tompkins County, and Cinemapolis.

After three of the most dynamic and successful U.S. charities were shut down by conservative charity watchdogs, destroying lives and cutting off precious resources, many of the top influencers in the field knew something had to be done to overhaul the nonprofit sector. Led by Dan Pallotta, whose record-breaking TED Talk on the subject has inspired leading philanthropists and changemakers, this feature-length documentary directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal exposes the dark side of philanthropy and introduces a radical new way of giving.

A panel discussion moderated by Cinemapolis Executive Director Kate Donohue will immediately follow the film. Panelists include: George Ferrari, CEO, Community Foundation of Tompkins County; Michael Ramos, President, United Way of Tompkins County; Cindy Wilcox, Executive Director, Human Services Coalition of Tompkins County; Michelle Gardner, AFP FLX Member and Senior Supervising Director of Foundation Relations and Campaign Gift Strategies, Binghamton University, SUNY.

OPENS NOVEMBER 2!

When teenage Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, the man who is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a gentle best friend. Through Priscilla’s eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla's long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt and ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame.

"The real beauty of Priscilla is its delicate portrayal of the all-consuming fire and flood of first love, and what happens when you grow up, and begin to realize the fairytale doesn’t always have a happy ending." — Little White Lies

Director / Writer: Sofia Coppola (MARIE ANTOINETTE)

Cast: Cailee Spaeny (BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE),

Jacob Elordi (EUPHORIA), Dagmara Dominczyk (SUCCESSION)

OPENS NOVEMBER 3!

Two ex lovers, Bill (David Duchovny) and Willa (Meg Ryan) get snowed in at a regional airport overnight. Indefinitely delayed, Willa, a magical thinker, and Bill, a catastrophic one, find themselves just as attracted to and annoyed by one another as they did decades earlier. But as they unpack the riddle of their mutual past and compare their lives to the dreams they once shared, they begin to wonder if their reunion is mere coincidence, or something more enchanted.

Director: Meg Ryan
