THREE NEW FILMS OPEN THIS WEEK!

The face of downtown Ithaca continues to shift and change, and change can be scary, but it can also be exciting! With change comes growth, and new things to celebrate and explore.

For example, this week three (yes THREE) of our films are changing over! We will be saying goodby to Moonage Daydream, Pearl, Triangle of Sadness, and Don't Worry Darling, and hello to Armageddon Time, Decision to Leave, and Banshees of Inisherin!

So while it is sad to see the old films go (especially if you wanted to see one of them and missed them), just think about the amazing new opportunities you have for some great new films coming to us, and make sure you don't miss these now that your opportunity has arrived!

See you soon!

OPENING THIS WEEKEND

After Jewish-American Paul Graff and his African-American friend Johnny are caught smoking cannabis, Paul is sent to his older brother's private school, whose alumni include Maryanne Trump. Immediately met with prejudice, Paul's parents, including his grandfather Aaron, do their best to try and teach him about the strength of family and the generational pursuit of the American Dream.

"Can you remember the first day of sixth grade? Would you even want to? James Gray, in the opening scene of “Armageddon Time,” his tender and lacerating new film, brings it all back with clammy precision."

A.O. Scott - The New York Times

Director: James Gray

Writer: James Gray

Cast: Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong, Anthony Hopkins

A detective investigating a man's death in the mountains ends up meeting and developing feelings for the dead man's mysterious wife in the course of his dogged sleuthing.

"Invoking the words of the Chinese philosopher Confucius, Seo-rae – the femme fatale at the heart of Park Chan-wook’s 11th narrative feature, Decision to Leave – issues a stark warning to Hae-joon (Park Hae-il), the earnest detective investigating her husband’s death during a hike: “Wise people admire the sea. Benevolent people admire the mountains. I am not benevolent.”

Hannah Strong - Little White Lies

Director: Park Chan-wook

Writer: Park Chan-wook

Cast: Park Hae-il, Tang Wei

Two lifelong friends find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship, with alarming consequences for both of them.

"There's something a little glib about... the way The Banshees of Inisherin uses the Irish Civil War, raging in the background of the story, as a counterpoint to the conflict between Pádraic and Colm. But there's nothing glib about how these two characters are written. To watch Farrell and Gleeson rage against each other is to better understand what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. It's been a while since a movie extracted this much drama from the end of a beautiful friendship."

Director: Martin McDonagh

Writer: Martin McDonagh

Cast: Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Jenny the Donkey
