| | Greetings, Cinemapolitans! |
| The snow is finally melting away, as are MANY of our current titles. This spring cleaning brings in FOUR new titles to the screen on Friday: - Director Autumn de Wilde makes her feature debut with a new take on the Jane Austen classic, EMMA. Robert Abele of The Wrap says the film "is proof that bringing a timeless book and fresh talent together is still a worthy kind of artistic matchmaking."
- A winner at Cannes, Portrait of a Lady on Fire is the latest from French auteur, Céline Sciamma (Girlhood, Tomboy). David Ehrlich of IndieWire calls it "Razor-sharp and shatteringly romantic ... as perfect a film as any to have premiered this year."
- With the capitalist satire, Greed, director Michael Winterbottom provides another vehicle for his "trip" star, Steve Coogan. Allen Hunter of Screen Daily calls it "a heady cocktail of absurdity and profundity, laced with a generous measure of cutting one-liners in a film that builds into a scathing commentary on a world where the rich keep getting richer and the poor are merely collateral damage."
- Lesley Manville and Liam Neeson share an Ordinary Love in a touching new drama that follows a married couple through the stages of a cancer diagnosis. Mark Kermode of The Observer says it's "a singular story with universal appeal – striking a very personal chord with some viewers while finding common ground with the widest possible audience."
