Greetings, Cinemapolitans!
Cinemapolis believes in the power of film to bring people together, and that experiencing film together is a vital way to strengthen our community.
Right now, global concerns are increasing about the highly contagious virus that causes COVID-19 and its potential impact on everyday things in our community, including going to see movies.
At this time, we're closely monitoring recommendations from local, state, and national officials whose expertise in communicable diseases vastly outweighs what we learned in high school health class. We are open to taking whatever steps may become necessary as new developments and safety measures evolve.
For now, here are a few changes we’re making – and requests we’re making of you:
|
- CHOOSE TO STAY HOME: If you’re feeling ill, we encourage you to stay home until your symptoms improve – we'll still be here showing movies when you're better. Currently, older adults and persons with underlying health conditions are considered to be at increased risk for severe illness and complications from COVID-19, so assess your own level of comfort before coming out to the movies.
- BE SOCIAL, JUST NOT THAT SOCIAL: To ensure that there’s plenty of room to spread out for good social distancing inside the auditorium, we’re only admitting 50% of the capacity for each screening. No packed theaters, in other words. Try to sit at least six feet away from other patrons.
- KEEP IT CLEAN: We have been increasing the frequency of cleaning our theater during open hours, including the box office, concessions stand, theater seats, and restrooms. Our outside janitorial service will be providing regular, deep disinfecting throughout all of our spaces. PLEASE help us out by removing all napkins and facial tissues from your seating area (especially the cup holder) before you leave the auditorium. With your help, we can ensure that the cinema remains as hygienic as possible.
- LOTS OF HAND WASHING: Our restrooms have plenty of soap for washing your hands, so use them! Follow the 20-second rule on soap & water washing by using THIS LIST of songs to sing while washing. As soon as they arrive, we'll also be installing hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the building for use by staff and customers.
- DON’T TOUCH YOUR FACE: Or touch other people’s faces for that matter.
- TICKET REFUNDS: Through the end of April, we will be happy to process a ticket refund before the show if you have a known risk for having contracted COVID-19, if you’re not feeling well, or if you need to care for someone who has become ill. Please email your full name and order number to info@cinemapolis.org prior to the screening, and we will be happy to assist you in securing a refund for your unused ticket.
- PATIENCE PLEASE: We’re all in this together, and we’re also encouraging our staff to take precautions. We strive to give you the very best service, but if things are taking a little extra time because a staff member stayed home or went to wash hands, we’d greatly appreciate your patience.
I'd like to thank all our Cinemapolitans for sticking together and staying strong during this challenging and constantly changing time. As a non-profit, cultural arts gathering space, we are tracking the news and guidelines constantly, and I will be sure to post updates on our website as they become available.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me directly at director@cinemapolis.org. With equal doses of caution and common sense, together we can make sure that movie-going remains an engaging respite from all that ails us!
Stay safe, be well, and Wash. Your. Hands. |
