This weekend, we're partnering up with two of our favorite community organizations for an exciting pair of virtual cinema offerings.

Our friends at Opera Ithaca have collaborated with PhotoSynthesis Productions for a quarantine comedy you won't want to miss. We have the exclusive local premiere of Gianni Schicchi for two weeks only!

Ithaca Fantastik continues to offer up spooky treats throughout the month of October, with two more surprises yet to be announced! This week, click over to our virtual cinema for Faust, Jan Svankmajer's award-winning take on the fabled doctor who sells his soul.

Jan Svankmajer’s Faust is a rendering of the infamous Dr. Faustus fable of temptation and damnation. Borrowing freely from both Marlowe and Goethe and ancient folktales and timeless myths, the story follows a lonely Czech businessman who sells his soul to the devil in return for 24 years of self-indulgence.

A visually fantastic combination of live-action, claymation, puppet theatre, stop-motion animation, and other special effects, Svankmajer creates an unsettling universe presided over by diabolic life-size marionettes and haunted by sinister human messengers from hell.

Negotiations on a potential new round of federal relief are ongoing! Please help us make sure movie theaters are included.

As things stand, many movie theater companies will be left out of existing proposals that could form the basis for new legislation. We are working on many fronts to get theaters included in the legislation and we need your help. Call and write to your House and Senate offices TODAY and tell them not to leave movie theaters out of the next round of COVID relief.

Cinemapolis is proud to be a certified living wage employer. As a response to the Covid-19 crisis, the cinema is temporarily closed. All staff will receive full pay during this closure.
