ECHOES OF THE EMPIRE: BEYOND GENGHIS KHAN

Echoes of the Empire

“Starting with the personal and intimate origin story of Genghis Khan, Lieberman weaves a rich and close-knit tale of the entire history of the Mongolian people—effortlessly mixing past, present and future in its entire epic splendor."

-Karsten Kastelan,
German Film Critics Association

Robert H. Lieberman and long-time creative collaborators PhotoSynthesis Productions take us inside this vast but little-known land. New York Times best-selling author Jack Weatherford (“Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World”) delves into the extraordinary life and times of Genghis Khan. His Mongol Empire, which encompassed all of Asia, much of the Middle East and Europe continues to affect us even today.

Intimate stories told by Mongolians, from nomads to city dwellers, provide a rare insight into their psyches and the challenges they face in their post-Soviet world.

MARTIN EDEN

Martin Eden

“An absolute blast… includes documentary footage, wealthy decadence, left-wing politics, angry speeches (in Italian!), beautiful women, square-jawed men, quotations from Baudelaire and the heroic deployment of manual typewriters, hand-rolled cigarettes, ascots and Volvo sedans. Everything I love in movies, more or less."

-A.O. Scott, NY Times

Adapted from a 1909 novel by Jack London yet set in a provocatively unspecified moment in Italy’s history, Martin Eden is a passionate and enthralling narrative fresco in the tradition of the great Italian classics.

Martin is a self-taught proletarian with artistic aspirations who hopes that his dreams of becoming a writer will help him rise above his station and marry a wealthy young university student.

The dissatisfactions of working-class toil and bourgeois success lead to political awakening and destructive anxiety in this enveloping, superbly mounted bildungsroman.

Director: Pietro Marcello
Writers: Jack London , Maurizio Braucci
Stars: Luca Marinelli, Jessica Cressy, Vincenzo Nemolato

WHITE RIOT

White Riot

“A thrilling, incendiary look at punk’s influence on politics."

Britain, late-1970s. Punk is exploding. The country is deeply divided over immigration. The National Front, a far-right and fascist political party, is gaining strength as politicians like Enoch Powell push a xenophobic agenda. Outraged by a racist speech from Eric Clapton, music photographer Red Saunders writes a letter to the music press, calling for rock to be a force against racism.

Teaming up with like-minded creatives Roger Huddle, Kate Webb, Syd Shelton and Australian graphic designer Ruth Gregory, the team bands together to create Rock Against Racism (RAR) and a fanzine, Temporary Hoarding. They give a voice to the voiceless. The National Front begins to strike back, committing acts of violence against RAR supporters and petrol-bombing their HQ.

White Riot is a moment in time when music changed the world. When a generation challenged the status quo. It’s Woodstock meets the March on Washington, punk-style.

#SaveYourCinema

Negotiations on a potential new round of federal relief are ongoing! Please help us make sure movie theaters are included.

As things stand, many movie theater companies will be left out of existing proposals that could form the basis for new legislation. We are working on many fronts to get theaters included in the legislation and we need your help. Call and write to your House and Senate offices TODAY and tell them not to leave movie theaters out of the next round of COVID relief.

SaveYourCinema.com

Together, we can urge Congress to keep movie theaters alive until they can fully reopen. Visit saveyourcinema.com to tell your legislators that you demand action to save local movie theaters now.

Help spread the word on social media with the hashtag #SaveYourCinema.
