| | Greetings, Cinemapolitans! |
| We're cleaning house this weekend, with five films leaving on Thursday, and THREE new openers arriving on Friday:
- Michael Moore brings his unique brand of activist documentary back to our screens with Fahrenheit 11/9. The film was a hit at this year's Toronto Film Festival, with Film Threat magazine saying, "It really brings something to the table that we’ve been missing, and something that most of the mainstream media is not well equipped to deliver, but Michael Moore is — emotion about injustice."
- Documentarian Lisa D'Apolito discovered a treasure trove of journal entries and previously unheard recordings to make the immensely personal portrait, Love, Gilda. A who's who of 70's comedy recounts Radner's professional and personal life, but Mike Ryan of UPROXX says, "What makes [the film] special is that Dapolito has a secret weapon: Gilda Radner herself."
- A breakout hit from this year's Sundance, Assassination Nation imagines the end-of-days fallout when an entire town's internet usage gets hacked and shared with the public. Leslie Felperin of the Hollywood Reporter calls it "energetically lurid, gratuitously violent and a hell of a lot of fun, horror-satire...a throwback to black-comedy teen flicks of yore, but with a bitingly timely feel."
Don't miss this limited one-week engagement!
All these new movies PLUS some special screenings on the way, including one TONIGHT: |

Each fall during Latinx Heritage Month, film lovers of all ages gather in Ithaca for upstate New York’s premiere Latin American film festival.
2018 marks the fifth annual celebration of Latin American filmmakers from all over the continent, and this year's selection includes critically-acclaimed and award-winning films from seven different countries. Some are brand new, some are from a few years ago, and all of them provide a different glimpse into life throughout Latin America.
The festival kicks off TONIGHT with a screening of Academy Award winner A Fantastic Woman at 7 pm. |

Ithaca Welcomes Refugees (IWR) will host a screening of HUMAN FLOW, Ai Weiwei’s breathtaking epic film journey about the global refugee crisis.
IWR presents the film as part of Welcoming America’s national week of events to raise awareness about the benefits of welcoming refugees and immigrants to our communities. At a time when compassion, tolerance, and trust are needed more than ever, the film asks one of the questions that will define this century: Can our global society move beyond fear, isolation, and self-interest to cultures of openness and respect for humanity?

The annual fest is just over a month away, but that's not keeping our friends from Ithaca Fantastik from piquing our interest with another installment of their Friday night series! This time around, they're bringing back a hit from last year's festival for one more special screening. Let the Corpses Tan is the latest from Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani, the French husband and wife filmmaking team that brought us The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears. It's a hard-boiled actioner with a touch of spaghetti western that the AV Club calls "fetishistic, kaleidoscopic, and obsessed with the intersection between sex and death."
