| | SCHEDULE OF SHOWTIMES SEP 13 - SEP 19 ALL SHOWTIMES BELOW VALID BEGINNING FRI, SEPTEMBER 13 |
| | Greetings, Cinemapolitans: |
| Three new movies on Friday and a BUNCH of special events are all on the way in the coming week: - Another marvelously rendered music documentary comes our way with Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice. A.O. Scott of the NY Times names it a Critic's Pick, saying "Her cleareyed, down-to-earth thoughts on her profession, her family and American culture (musical and otherwise) make her someone you want to know better."
- A big hit at this year's Sundance film festival, Brittany Runs A Marathon is a "fact-based" comedy about the titular heroine's effort to get healthy. Dennis Harvey of Variety calls it "the best kind of “crowdpleaser”: one that earns every emotional beat that might seem formulaic in four out of five similar enterprises."
- Kiera Knightly stars in the true-life whistleblower thriller, Official Secrets. Tim Grierson of Screen Daily says it has "a rousing electricity, and...a cast which leans into the story’s urgency and continued relevance."
AND plenty of special events on the way, including one THIS Thursday - |
