Greetings, Cinemapolitans!
A new week of movies begins on Friday, and it comes with one new title and slew of special events.
In a reprise of the hilarious road movie that graced our screens 4 years ago, Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon return for The Trip to Italy. Their gastronomic hi jinx are as light and frothy as ever, and, as IndieWire puts it, "it feels like the cultural and literary references come even thicker and faster the second time around. By the time the curtains draw to a bittersweet close, you’ll walk out feeling rejuvenated, satisfied, well replenished in humor and culture, and already planning your own trip to Italy." A week of special screenings and events kicks off on Sunday, September 14th. At 4pm, our tribute to the late Robin Williams continues with a special screening of The Birdcage, featuring an introduction by Professor Elisabeth Nonas of the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College.

Then on Tuesday, September 16th at 7pm, the Cine con Cultura Film Festival kicks off with a special showing of the 2012 Chilean film, NO. Hosted by Cultura Ithaca, the Cine con Cultura festival features nine films made entirely in Latin America by Latin American production companies. The films are from a variety of countries and vary greatly in subject matter from civil unrest to immigration of children into United States to homosexuality to zombies! In celebration of Latino Heritage Month, screenings will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm from September 16 - October 14.
