| As August wraps up, our remarkable slate of acclaimed films gets joined by TWO new openers this Friday:
- Award-winning producer Marc Turtletaub takes a turn behind the camera with the endearing mid-life crisis dramedy, Puzzle. Kelly Macdonald stars as Agnes, an introverted mom who blossoms when she discovers her love of competitive jigsaw puzzling. Jordan Ruimy of the Playlist calls it a "near-perfect movie."
- American auteur Desiree Akhavan directed and adapted the screenplay from the YA novel, The Miseducation of Cameron Post. Chloë Grace Moretz stars in this 1993 period piece that tracks a teenage girl sent to gay conversion therapy at a conservative boarding school. A.O. Scott of the NY Times names it a Critic's Pick, saying "there is a delicate humanism at work here that feels especially refreshing, a commitment to respecting differences without sacrificing a clear ethical point of view."

| Our friends from Ithaca Fantastik are back with another installment of their Fantastik Friday series. This time out, they bring us Our House, a mash-up of mad scientist sci-fi and haunted house horror. It stars Thomas Mann (Me, Earl & The Dying Girl) as a budding engineer whose latest invention inadvertently conjures contact with the after-life. When his parents are involved in a fatal car crash, he brings the tech home with unpredictably haunting results. Don't miss the scares at this one-time screening on Friday, August 24th at 9:30 pm! |
