Greetings, Cinemapolitans!
Bouncing back from the holiday fun, and we have two new movies that start this Friday: - Irish auteur John Carney (Once) returns to our screens with another music-filled love story. This time, he hits the streets of New York City with Kiera Knightley and Mark Ruffalo. Ian Freer of Empire.com calls Begin Again "a joyous movie about the good things in life: love, family, relationships, New York, creativity and music."
- Academy Award Winner Paul Haggis is back with his latest, Third Person. Like Crash, it features multiple inter-locking plot lines and a star studded cast. The San Francisco Chronicle calls it his "best movie, and the one he has been building toward for years." Don't miss this limited engagement!
Three special events coming in the next week begin on Sunday, when we'll continue our weekly Food Network Star party to cheer on finalist and Ithacan, Emma Frisch. The show starts at 9 pm! On Tuesday, thanks to a special rental, we'll be hosting a FREE screening of The Internet's Own Boy, the story of programming prodigy and information activist Aaron Swartz, who took his own life at the age of 26. This one-time only FREE screening starts at 7 pm on Tuesday, July 15th.
Then, the week wraps up on July 17th with a return to London and another edition of National Theatre Live. A Small Family Business screens at 6:30 pm on Thursday, July 17th and again at 1:30 pm on Saturday, July 19th. |
