| | SCHEDULE OF SHOWTIMES JUNE 7 - JUNE 13 ALL SHOWTIMES BELOW VALID BEGINNING FRI, JUNE 7 |
| | Greetings, Cinemapolitans! |
| The first full week of June gets underway with THREE new openers arriving on Friday: - A smash at Sundance, British auteur Joanna Hogg's semi-autobiographical romance, The Souvenir, is the best-reviewed film of the year. Guy Lodge of Variety says it's "Achingly well-observed in its study of a young artist inspired, derailed and finally strengthened by a toxic relationship...at once the coming-of-age story of many women and a specific creative manifesto for one of modern British cinema’s most singular writer-directors."
- French filmmaker Olivier Assayas (Clouds of Sils Maria) re-teams with Juliette Binoche for the Parisian publishing sex-comedy, Non-Fiction. Jon Frosch of the Hollywood Reporter call it, "the latest evidence of the director’s gift for tackling grave subjects with the lightest of touches; the film flows airily along, then knocks you off-balance with the weight of its insights and implications."
- John Lithgow and Blythe Danner star in the quirky romance, The Tomorrow Man. Shot on location in Upstate New York, Alan Ng of Film Threat calls it, "a chance to watch two veteran actors...do what they spent their entire lives doing, and that’s act and act real damn good."
