| | SCHEDULE OF SHOWTIMES JUNE 22 - JUNE 28 ALL SHOWTIMES BELOW VALID BEGINNING FRI, JUN 22 |
| | Greetings, Cinemapolitans! |
| A June full of movies continues with TWO new openers arriving on Friday:
- Oscar-winning documentarian Morgan Neville (Twenty Feet from Stardom) takes us back to the "Neighborhood of Make Believe" with his touching new portrait of Fred Rogers, Won't You Be My Neighbor? Delving less into the details of his personal life and more into the cultural significance of his on-screen persona, Neville presents Mr. Rogers' legacy as a groundbreaking television educator. The award-winning doc is a NY Times Critic's Pick, with A.O. Scott calling it "moving and illuminating."
- Another award-winning documentarian, Bart Layton, takes a swing at narrative film with the true(ish) crime romp, American Animals. Based on the 2004 "Transy Book Heist," the film utilizes conflicting perspectives and some real(?) interviews to tell the absurdly entertaining tale of four college students who planned an elaborate heist of rare books from their own university library. Variety's Guy Lodge calls it "unabashedly virtuoso, show-off filmmaking, as cocky as the misguided young men at the film’s center, who, at least for a period, saw their lives as a Hollywood romp in itself."
In addition to these new films, we also have some special screening events on the way, including one THIS THURSDAY: |

LIVE Theatre on the BIG Screen
Summer with NTL gets under way with Shakespeare’s most intense and terrifying tragedy, Macbeth. Directed by Rufus Norris (The Threepenny Opera, London Road), the production marks the return of Rory Kinnear (Young Marx, Othello) and Anne-Marie Duff (Oil, Suffragette) to the National Theatre to play Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The ruined aftermath of a bloody civil war. Ruthlessly fighting to survive, the Macbeths are propelled towards the crown by forces of elemental darkness.
Macbeth screens at Cinemapolis on Thursday, June 21st at 6:30 and again on Saturday, June 23rd at 1:30 pm.

| | While planning your next week at the movies, get in here soon to catch Beast, On Chesil Beach, and Summer 1993. They all have their final screenings on Thursday, June 21st! |
