| | Greetings, Cinemapolitans! |
| A June full of movies continues with TWO new openers arriving on Friday:
- Saoirse Ronan, Elisabeth Moss, and Annette Bening are just a few of the MANY stars that populate Michael Mayer and Stephen Karam's new film adaptation of the Chekhov classic, The Seagull. The familiar setting of the lakeside estate offers up ample opportunity for the stellar ensemble cast to engage in Chekhovian conversation. David Edelstein of NY Magazine calls it "a platform for a handful of definitive performances."
- Writer/director Carla Simón transports us to the Catalonian countryside in the award-winning Summer 1993. Utilizing elements of her own childhood, she crafts a snapshot from the life of Frida, a recently orphaned 6 year old who's transplanted from Barcelona to live with her aunt. The film was Spain's official entry for this year's Academy Awards, and Jeannette Catsoulis of the NY Times names it a Critic's Pick, calling it "movingly understated and beautifully acted." DON'T MISS THIS LIMITED ENGAGEMENT!
In addition to these new films, we also have some special screening events on the way, including one TONIGHT: |

ONE NIGHT ONLY SCREENING EVENT! The story of organic agriculture, told by those who built the movement. A motley crew of back-to-the-landers, spiritual seekers and farmers’ sons and daughters reject chemical farming and set out to explore organic alternatives. It’s a heartfelt journey of change from a small band of rebels to a cultural transformation in the way we grow and eat food. By now organic has gone mainstream – split into an industry oriented toward bringing organic to all people, and a movement that has realized a vision of sustainable agriculture.
Featuring narration by Academy Award winner, Frances McDormand.
