Greetings, Cinemapolitans!
More Spring Cleaning this week, as three new movies arrive:- Jodorowsky's Dune traces the twisted tale of one of the biggest movies never made. A big hit at last year's Cannes, Indwire calls this fast-paced doc "giddily inspirational for a story about a failure." Don't miss it!
- The unlikely arrival of Nicolas Cage on our screens has everything to do with director David Gordon Green. Green's latest, Joe, casts Cage opposite Mud star, Tye Sheridan in a Southern Gothic film that the Guardian says is his "most purely satisfying picture since All the Real Girls back in 2003."
- Finally, the improbably tense thriller, Locke returns for a full run after the NY Film Critics preview last month. Tom Hardy stars in this (mostly) one-man show, as a construction supervisor on a late-night car ride trying desperately to do the right thing. Writer/director Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Dirty Pretty Things) shot the entire film over the course of four nights on the same stretch of English freeway. This feat of story-telling opens Friday!
