Greetings, Cinemapolitans!
This Friday the 13th is our lucky day, with two new openers and film festival setting up shop on our screens:
  • Wes Anderson returns to animation with the heartfelt and meticulously crafted Isle of Dogs. Set in a 60s vision of futuristic Japan, the adventure follows Atari, a young boy on a quest to rescue his pet from the quarantine zone of Trash Island. Featuring a star-studded cast of voice talent familiar to Anderson fans, David Rooney of the Hollywood Reporter says "The unique charm of Isle of Dogs is its bottomless vault of curios, its sly humor, playful graphic inserts and dexterous narrative detours."

  • Also arriving for a special limited engagement is Finding Your Feet, a good-humored British romp about a down on her luck retiree who finds herself stuck living with her sister in a council estate. Imelda Staunton joins a stellar ensemble that includes Timothy Spall and Joanna Lumley in what Susan Wloszczyna of RogerEbert.com calls "a delightful late-life rom-com trifle."

And don't forget that a BIG special event is on the way that will pre-empt many regular screenings, so read the schedule of showtimes carefully!

April 9 - 15, 2018

After a year on hiatus, the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF) returns for a week of screenings and events at Ithaca College and right here at Cinemapolis.

FLEFF embraces and interrogates sustainability across all of its forms: economic, social, ecological, political, cultural, technological, and aesthetic.  This year's festival probes the theme of GEOGRAPHIES.

The THIRTY-NINE film screenings here at Cinemapolis begin on Wednesday, April 11 and run through Sunday, April 15

Funding for the 2016-2017-2018 Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival is provided by Ithaca College, the major presenting sponsor, and the generosity of other outside funders including the Park Foundation and the Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future.

While you're planning your next week at the movies, you should also get in soon to catch A Fantastic Woman, Flower, Loveless, Oh Lucy!, and The Party  They all have their last screenings on THIS Thursday, April 12th!
 See you at the movies!
