Greetings, Cinemapolitans!
The Academy Awards © are now a memory, but we're still recovering from our annual And The Winner Is... gala. Big thanks to the more than 150 cinephiles who came out and made the event a smashing success! We're tabulating results and will announce the winner of our "Pick the Winners" Oscar ballot contest very soon.
In honor of the big winners (and some of the also-rans), we'll be adding some VERY LIMITED post-Oscar special engagements in coming weeks. This week includes the return of Best Picture (and Moppe d'Or recipient) 12 Years a Slave, as well as the Cinemapolis debut of The Wolf of Wall Street. Watch for other nominated films coming up, including American Hustle on March 14th!
Also opening this week, the complex and heartfelt exploration of parenthood, Like Father, Like Son. This Japanese treat has racked up awards from Cannes and beyond, and it shouldn't be missed. Catch this limited engagement while you can.You might notice some odd times in this week's schedule. That's to make room for the debut of LIVE theatre at the Mop. The Readers' Theatre of Ithaca will be taking up residence in Theater 1 this weekend for three performances of Neil Labute's In A Forest Dark and Deep.
Of course, these new additions to the line up mean that you only have a few more chances to see Omar and In Secret. They both close on Thursday!
See you at the movies (and plays)!
