Greetings, Cinemapolitans!
Two new openings on Friday will get you geared up for the big Academy Awards telecast. The first is another nominee for Best Foreign Language Film: Omar is the latest from Hany Abu-Assad (the director of the award-winning Paradise Now) and another gripping insight into daily life of Palestinians.
Our second new film, In Secret, brings Oscar Isaac to a second screen in the theater (see Inside Llewyn Davis down the hall) and brings the words of Emil Zola to life.
To make room for these two new films, two current movies are leaving. You have until February 20th to see Dallas Buyers Club and The Invisible Woman. After that - they're gone!
In the meantime, we're just counting down the days to Hollywood's big night. Don't you want to spend it with your cinema-loving friends at your favorite non-profit independent movie theater? Reserve your spot at Cinemapolis's annual Gala Event - "And the Winner Is..." On the evening of March 2nd, from 7 pm until best picture is announced, you can enjoy great food, great drinks, and the big awards on the big screen.
All proceeds go directly supporting our mission to act as a community center where the art of film used to enrich people's lives, grapple with and illuminate contemporary issues, and, of course, to entertain. Find more details and get tickets at Cinemapolis.org.
And while you're at it, be sure to scroll down to find out about the big night our friends at Cornell Cinema are having on February 22nd - their annual Elegant Winter party is not to be missed!
See you at the movies! |
