| | Greetings, Cinemapolitans! |
| We head towards our big AWARDS NIGHT PARTY and add another nominated film to the mix this Friday: - From Lebanon comes another nominee for Best Foreign Language Film. Director Nadine Labaki's Capernaum follows the unlikely court case of Zain, a young Lebanese boy who is suing his parents for bringing him into the world. This darkly satirical drama is a NY Times Critic's Pick, with A.O. Scott calling it "a sprawling tale wrenched from real life [that] goes beyond the conventions of documentary or realism into a mode of representation that doesn’t quite have a name. It’s a fairy tale and an opera, a potboiler and a news bulletin, a howl of protest and an anthem of resistance."
And, just in time for Valentine's Day, we also have Shakespeare's tragic romance coming THIS THURSDAY:

Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo play Shakespeare’s famous fated couple in his great tragedy of politics, passion and power – Antony & Cleopatra. Caesar and his assassins are dead. General Mark Antony now rules alongside his fellow defenders of Rome. But at the fringes of a war-torn empire the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra and Mark Antony have fallen fiercely in love. In a tragic fight between devotion and duty, obsession becomes a catalyst for war.
