| | SCHEDULE OF SHOWTIMES NOV 1 - NOV 7 ALL SHOWTIMES BELOW VALID BEGINNING FRI, NOVEMBER 1 |
| | Greetings, Cinemapolitans: |
| We're kicking off November with a slate of award hopefuls, with three new openers arriving on Friday: - American actress and auteur Kasi Lemmons (Eve's Bayou) brings the legend of an American hero to the screen with Harriet, shedding light on the many triumphs of Harriet Tubman. Peter Bradshaw of the Guardian praises the breakout performance from Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo and says the film is "somewhere between a slave-escape drama, an action thriller, a western and even an unexpected kind of superhero film."
MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO A SPECIAL SNEAK PREVIEW THIS THURSDAY at 7 PM.
- Winner of this year's Palm d'Or at Cannes, Parasite is another twist on genre from Korean master, Bong Joon Ho. This intricate story of class warfare between two Seoul families—the Kims and the Parks—is filled with unexpected twists. Justin Chang of the LA Times says it "begins in exhilaration and ends in devastation, but the triumph of the movie is that it fully lives and breathes at every moment, even when you might find yourself struggling to exhale."
- Here for a special ONE WEEK ONLY limited engagement, Where's My Roy Cohn? tracks the ruthless life of the titular political kingmaker. Steve Pond of The Wrap calls the documentary required viewing, saying it "makes a case for Cohn being a fascinating subject, a bundle of contradictions in a slick and soulless package."
There's also a pack of special event screenings on the way, including a collaboration with the Kitchen Theatre Company TONIGHT: |

PRESS PLAY is back for its third season! This collaboration between the Kitchen Theatre Company and Cinemapolis puts a currently running play in conversation with a film that explores similar themes. Following each screening, audiences are invited to stay for a conversation led by Kitchen Theatre artists.
The 3rd season gets underway on Tuesday, October 29th with the pairing of THE TWO KIDS THAT BLOW SHIT UP with the award-winning 2018 comedy, Crazy Rich Asians. Both the play and the film, in their own ways, address the contemporary Asian American experience.
M. Bevin O’Gara, Producing Artistic Director of the Kitchen Theatre, will be leading the post-screening conversation.
