| | Greetings Cinemapolitans!
We're heading toward the 5th Annual Ithaca Fantastik festival, but before it gets underway, we have a slew of special screenings and THREE new openers starting on Friday: - Jim Jarmusch brings his unique perspective to the probing rock-doc, Gimme Danger. He reunites with Iggy Pop to chronicle the life and times of The Stooges, and the Hollywood Reporter's David Rooney says "the punchy scrappiness of Jarmusch's film...is an appropriate fit for the subject."
- Sonia Braga stars in the Palme d'Or nominee, Aquarius. This brilliant Brazilian drama follows Braga's Clara as she fights to keep her home in the titular Aquarius building. The Film Stage praises her performance as "a delight to watch from start to finish, keeping the viewer mesmerized by her charisma and intensely rooting for her victory.
- Ewan McGregor makes his debut behind the camera and bring's Philip Roth's masterful American Pastoral to the screen. McGregor also stars alongside Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning in what the LA Times' Gary Goldstein calls "a haunting, engrossing, often eerily timely adaptation."
