| | Greetings Cinemapolitans!
Wizarding Weekend approaches in downtown Ithaca, and we have one new opener and a handful of special screenings in the coming week: - Based on Fredrik Backman's best selling novel, A Man Called Ove is a crowd-pleasing Swedish comedy with loads of heart. Bouncing back through the lifetime of failed suicide attempts of the cantankerous protagonist, Variety's Alissa Simon calls it "a heartwarming tale about a stubborn, short-tempered man with steadfast beliefs, strict routines and the feeling that everyone around him is an idiot — and no reticence about telling them so."

| Don't forget to catch the latest National Theatre Live encore. Just in time for Halloween, Danny Boyle’s acclaimed production of Frankenstein returns! Benedict Cumberbatch & Jonny Lee Miller both earned Olivier Awards for their celebrated performances alternating in the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. Due to unprecedented audience demand, Frankenstein screens again at Cinemapolis on Thursday, October 27th at 6:30 pm (Cumberbatch as Creature) and again on Saturday, October 29th at 1:30 pm (Miller as Creature).

| | On Sunday afternoon at 2pm, filmmaker (and Cinemapolis board chair) Sue Perlgut launches the first of two special multimedia performances. For Women's Wisdom, 70 women took a survey to recount the advice they were given and have given. Perlgut video taped 35 women from Tompkins County asking them the same questions. The performances will feature filmed segments alongside live readings. |
| On Tuesday, November 1 at 7 pm, the Finger Lakes Independence Center presents a special free screening event.
In 2016, nearly 250,000 people are legally paid less than the minimum wage, on average, less than $2 an hour. Bottom Dollars is an hour long documentary that exposes the exploitation of people with disabilities through personal stories and expert interviews. |
| While you're planning your next week at the movies, be sure to catch American Honey soon! It leaves THIS Thursday, October 27th!
