| | Greetings Cinemapolitans!
In addition to TWO new movies and special events, some changes are coming to Cinemapolis this weekend: - Writer/director Ira Sachs (Love is Strange) returns to our screens with the Sundance hit, Little Men. Starring Alfred Molina, Greg Kinnear, and two breakout young actors—Theo Taplitz and Michael Barbieri—the film follows the struggles of friendship between two boys as their parents' business dealings threaten to tear them apart. The Gaurdian's Nigel Smith says that "Sachs' approach is so humane, and his characters so fully rendered, that an agenda never announces itself; instead, Sachs' worldview seeps into you."
- In the tradition of misspent youth films like Kids and Spring Breakers comes Elizabeth Wood's semi-autobiographical Sundance hit, White Girl. Morgan Taylor stars in a breakout role as Leah, a privileged NYC college student spiraling through a nightlife filled with sex, drugs, and bad decisions. Stephen Holden names it a NY Times Critics Pick, and says "We’re all familiar with the term contact high, but not with its antithesis. Because it is so believable, “White Girl” is a contact bummer that’s hard to shake."

| Our tradition of Live Theatre on the Big Screen continues this weekend with more from the 2016 season of Shakespeare’s Globe on Screen. Multi Tony and Olivier Award-winning stage and screen star Jonathan Pryce takes the role of enigmatic Shylock alongside his own daughter Phoebe Pryce, playing Jessica, in the Globe on Screen presentation of The Merchant of Venice. This iconic tale of the battle between greed and love, paired with Pryce’s memorable interpretation, makes this a must- see. The Merchant of Venice screens on Sunday, October 9th at 2:00 pm and again at on Wednesday, October 12th at 7:00 pm. |
| Beginning this weekend, you'll notice some changes as we switch to a new sales system at the theater! Starting Friday, October 7:- New member cards (now with barcodes!) will be waiting for all current members at the box office.
- New gift cards will be available for sale. Customers with our old gift cards can trade them in for a new edition of equal value.
- Internet ticket sales will have a new, easier to manage look and feel.
- Pricing at concessions will be streamlined - we're eliminating extra charges. Pay one price on popcorn and get all the REAL butter and gourmet toppings you want!
