| | Greetings Cinemapolitans!
We have a busy week coming up, with a trio of limited engagements, special events, and a surprise EXTENSION to the run of a much-anticipated documentary: - Our first limited engagement is Complete Unknown, another hit from this year's Sundance. It stars Rachel Weisz as a woman who floats through life changing identities and Michael Shannon as an ex-lover who rediscovers her years later at a dinner party. Variety's Guy Lodge says, "Luxuriously conversational in structure, it would make an outstanding stage play, and the two stars play it with chamber-piece rigor."
- The next limited engagement comes from Japanese auteur Hirokazu Koreeda (Like Father, Like Son). A Palme d'Or nominee last year at Cannes, Our Little Sister is a beautiful family story adapted from a renowned manga. Peter Bradshaw of the Guardian calls it "quiet, understated and gentle, allowing the audience to take pleasure in teasing out its narrative subtleties, and presented with wonderful freshness and clarity."
- Our third limited engagement comes in the form of German film award winner The People vs. Fritz Bauer. Based on the real life efforts of Germany's Attorney General to bring Eichmann to justice, Tribune Media's Katie Walsh says it "distill[s] large, complicated political issues into an intimate, personal story about one man's desire to bring not only justice, but catharsis to post-war Germany, mired in a fog of complacency."
- Finally, we're excited to announce that, due to the overwhelming interest in our initial two scheduled screenings, we've extended the run of The Beatles: Eight Days A Week (The Touring Years) for a full week of screenings. Ron Howard's brilliant doc on the Fab Four's early days on the road features loads of concert footage, including 30 minutes from the famed Shea Stadium show that will ONLY be seen in theaters. Catch it on the big screen!

| | Looking ahead to next Tuesday, we're excited to welcome back the 3rd Annual Cine con CULTURA film fest. In celebration of Latin@ Heritage Month, CULTURA Ithaca will host events all over Ithaca, with special screenings at Cinemapolis every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm from September 20 through October 11. |
| While you're planning your next week at the movies, be sure to catch Equity, Morris from America, and Phantom Boy soon! Their limited engagements all end THIS Thursday, September 15th! |
