Heading into the holiday weekend, one new opener joins our four late-summer hits on Friday: - Women on Wall Street take center stage in Meera Menon's high finance thriller, Equity. Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn stars as Naomi Bishop, an investment bank executive juggling a failed IPO, a reluctant protege, and inter-office corruption. With a sharp script from Amy Fox, this NY Times "Critic's Pick" eschews stereotypical depictions of women in the workplace and, as A.O. Scott says, "pulls off a difficult balancing act with an elegance that should not be underestimated. It turns its unflappable gaze on a maddeningly complex reality and transforms it into a swift, clear and exciting story."
