| | Greetings Cinemapolitans!
We head into the Ithaca Fest weekend with TWO new openers on Friday, and some special events in the coming week: |
| - Documentarian John Scheinfeld delves into the life and art of one of giants of Jazz with Chasing Trane: John Coltrane Documentary. A densely packed film featuring the highlights and lowlights of Coltrane's brief 40 years, Todd McCarthy of the Hollywood Reporter calls it a "comprehensive, engrossing and, it’s tempting to say, worshipful account of the life of the music titan."
- Israeli auteur Rama Burshtein (Fill the Void) returns to our screens with the complicated comedy, The Wedding Plan. In it, a recently jilted Michal decides to go on with her wedding as planned, insisting that God will supply the groom when the day arrives. Don't let the standard rom-com premise fool you. Ben Kenigsberg names it a NY Times Critic's Pick, calling it a "prickly, delicately layered film [that] has the tangled ambiguity of a Talmudic lesson."
As we get through the weekend, there are also several special events on the way:
