Greetings Cinemapolitans!

one new film and a bunch of special screenings are on the way in the coming week:
  • French auteur Arnaud Desplechin (A Christmas Tale) once again teams with Mathieu Amalric for the nostalgic tale, My Golden Days. Amalric plays Paul, a middle-aged anthropologist, as he wistfully looks back at the romances and travels of his youth in the 80s. Told through three such adventures, the film eschews the typical coming-of-age tropes, and according to Indiewire's Oliver Lyttelton, "it's written, shot, cut and performed with such palpable joy, intelligence and warmth that it ends up feeling entirely fresh." Don't miss this limited engagement.
Foul deeds will rise again! Don't forget the two special opportunities to catch an encore screening of Benedict Cumberbatch as Hamlet. This National Theatre Live presentation has sold out FIVE previous screenings, so be sure to get tickets in advance! The encores will screen on Thursday, April 14 at 6:30 pm and again on Saturday, April 16 at 1:30.

The The Family Classics Picture Show continues its 2nd year on Sunday, April 17th at 2pm with a screening of Born Free
To get families excited about the magic of the movies, each show features an introduction by David Moreland and includes custom enrichment guides to help continue the conversation after the credits roll.

Discounted tickets for these special Sunday events are just $3 for adults, $2 for kids, or $10 for an entire family. FCPS is made possible by lead sponsor Wells Fargo Advisors, with additional support from Mama Goose.

On Tuesday, April 19th at 5 pm and 7 pm, filmmaker Slawomir Grunberg returns to Ithaca for two special screenings of his latest documentary, Karski & the Lords of Humanity. The film tells the story of Jan Karski, the Polish underground courier who traveled across occupied Europe to inform the Allied powers of Nazi crimes against the Jews of Europe in an effort to prevent the Holocaust. A Q&A after the 5 pm screening will be moderated by Professor Linda Lavine of Cortland State University and after the 7 pm screening by Professor John Hubbel Weiss of Cornell University.

Finally, next week finishes up with a special Earth Day Eve screening of This Changes Everything. On Thursday, April 21st at 7 pm, the Naomi Klein film returns for a one-night event and a kick-off to the Climate Solutions Fair being held at Press Bay Alley on April 23rd. A post-show panel discussion will include: Irene Weiser of Fossil Free Tompkins; Chris Trudeau of Ebike Ithaca; Gay Nicholson of Sustainable Tompkins and Earth Day Ithaca; and Margaret McCasland, Interfaith Climate Action Network and Ithaca Quaker Earthcare.

While you're planning your next week at the movies, be sure to catch I Saw The Light soon. It leaves THIS Thursday, April 14th!

 See you at the movies!
