| | Greetings Cinemapolitans!
the big awards may be over, but we're still bringing Oscar nominees to the screens. This week, it's another nominee for Best Foreign Language film: - From Colombian director Ciro Guerra comes the stunning period piece, Embrace of the Serpent. Through the decades-spanning story of Karamakate, a shaman, Guerra tells a compelling tale of exploitation of the Amazon--of both the land and the indigenous people. Jessica Kiang of IndieWire says the film "is simply a work of art, and one of the most singular cinematic experiences you could hope to have... It's an absorbing, even thrilling head trip. It is a Heart-of-Darkness voyage of discovery. It is a lament for all the lost plants and peoples of the world."

| While you're planning your next week at the movies, be sure to catch Son of Saul soon. It leaves THIS Thursday, March 10th! |
